Thirty, Twenty and Ten Years Ago

Cool! Ted Gossard does some pretty rockin' tagging!

What were you doing ten, twenty and thirty years ago?

Thirty years ago: I was 14 years old and not yet a Christian. However, I was beginning to be exposed to Christianity through the Campus Life Singers. I joined the group with a girlfriend from school, and stayed in the group because I had a crush on one of the boys. :-)

Twenty years ago: I was a highly successful insurance saleswoman for a national small business organization, and as one of the top reps in the country, I had just returned from a corporate sponsored trip to Europe. I also was playing in a Christian band and involved in youth ministry. This was also during a time in my life I would much rather forget about - living the double life as a Christian on weekends, and a wild party girl during the rest of the week. I became highly promiscuous, drank to soothe the pain, smoked a pack & 1/2 of cigs a day plus did various other recreational drugs. It was amazingly easy to live such a sick and hypocritical double life for so long. I finally met Glen 2 years later, and I tell everyone he rescued me. Well, him and God.

Ten years ago: Ten year ago THIS MONTH, in fact - after struggling with years of infertility, and believing God was punishing me for all my years of behaving so badly, I discovered I was pregnant with twins after our first cycle of IVF. Jonathan and Delci were born on May 27th, 1998. This was when my view of God's true character began to change and take shape. I've been on the road to healing ever since.

Now - who shall I tag??? Bradford, Todd, Ultra Rev, Gary & Charlie. Don't feel like you have to get as heavy as I did! LOL

Kim, thanks for tagging me! This will be fun. Like you, I used to play in a Christian rock band in my college years.

Wow, twins! I just posted, minutes ago, a long piece that I've been thinking about on IVF. I'd love to hear your own perspective sometime, as a woman who has personally been blessed by this technology.

Kim,
Thanks for sharing that. Great to see the grace of God in each other's life.

Interesting too to see the journey as to where it takes us in what we're doing in our lives.

Thanks for so enthusiastically taking the tag. It is kind of fun.

Hmmmm. thirty years ago...kindergarten taking naps, coloring, and eating oatmeal cookies at snack time

twenty years ago....riding a skateboard, feeling very rebellious, hormonally driven, and deeply inspired by the underground music scene a.k.a. known as punck rock.

ten years ago.....a newly married believer enjoying the worship ministry yet at the same time going trough a deep "dark night of the soul" experience only to find that God is Father and very very good indeed.
