How cool - Dan Whitmarsh tagged me on Xanga, and since I blog in two place, I can tag in two places...right? So here goes! 1) What is the most fun work you've ever done, and why? 2A) Name one thing you did in the past that you no longer do but wish you did? 2B) Name one thing you've always wanted to do but keep putting it off? 3A) What two things would you most like to learn or be better at, and why? 2 – learn to speak Russian. Our dream is to take a family mission trip back to Irkutsk, where we adopted Igor. 3B) If you could take a class/workshop/apprentice from anyone in the world living or dead, who would it be and what would you hope to learn? 4A) What three words might your best friends or family use to describe you? 4B) Now list two more words you wish described you. 5) What are your top three passions? (can be current or past, work, hobbies, or causes) Mentoring young women - if can give back to this life in any way it would be to attempt to be a positive role model in the lives of young women so that perhaps even one might not make the same stupid mistakes I did. Birdwatching - for me it's like hunting, only with binoculars instead of a gun! 6) Write and answer one more question that YOU would ask someone.
During the time I worked with my husband at our sound and lighting business. When I first met him, he was running sound for local bands in night clubs and doing the occasional spotlight rental, dance recital or barbershop gig. With my sales background, I developed a marketing program that helped business take off and expand to where we haven't had to set foot in a night club for 15 years. Glen taught me the art of audio engineering, lighting design, all aspects of tech. Our business and inventory and customer base grew exponentially and quickly. With my music background, I had an innate ability to mix live sound - especially while "juggling" 8-10 wireless mics for theatrical productions. I loved being the "sound lady" for Manchester Musical Players, St. Mary Children's Theatre, and other local theatre groups. Glen and I spent 24/7 together in the early years of our marriage - and where that much time together might have torn other couples apart - Glen and I were drawn closer together as a real team. He had the technical/administrative know-how and I had the people and marketing skills...a winning team, and mutually satisfying experience in every sense of the word. I "retired" when the twins were born, but I still miss working with him, and I still miss the customers I came in contact with on a regular basis.
Play volleyball. I played varsity in high school, and it was the one sport I was really good at. But I wrecked my ankles, knees and my right hip. Now I'm just too out of shape to even consider it!
Take piano lessons again.
1 – be better at improvisation and playing/singing by ear. I've been a "slave to the page" most of my life, and recently have sought active opportunities to develop this aspect of my musicianship. Being part of a classic rock band where no one reads music has been extremely challenging - but very rewarding in terms of my musical growth.
The list is endless, honestly! Right now I'd love to take a cello lesson from Yo-Yo Ma, a workshop on the art of radio and voiceovers from Garrison Keillor, a private tutoring session in accompanying with Emanuel Ax...ask me tomorrow and I'll have a different list!
Flaky, fun, encouraging.
patient, loving
Worship - connecting with God is the beginning and ending of everything that is for me. I have experienced God's grace and healing in truly miraculous ways, and I am passionate about helping others find their way to the foot of the Wonderful Cross.
What’s the best book you’ve read in the past 6 months?
Hmmm...who do I want to tag...how about Gary Means, Tim Colegrove and Matt Nightingale

Kim, Nice list. Especially the times of working with your husband. Really good stuff. To look back on our lives and see how God has blessed. And that helps us see how he's blessing now, and anticipate the best yet to come! How awesome is our God, and patient.
